Chequer Inn

The Chequer Inn has a rich, and at times “chequered” history. Our 600yr old Tudor building, built in the year 1383 during the reign of Richard II, was recently saved from the clutches of a developer by the Community of Ash. The Chequer Inn Ash Society (CIAS) worked tirelessly to oppose the redevelopment scheme, with 300 shareholders banding together to purchase the building.

Together with Janet and her team, they have refurbished the Chequer Inn to reflect both it’s beautiful past, and it’s great future Bringing reflections of old and attributes of the new together in order to create an environment that is comfortable, familiar and enhances the great service, variety of drinks, and honest fresh food on offer.
